If you’re wondering what to do this summer . . .
Maybe it’s time to simply get in a swing and be a kid again if only for a few minutes.
Give yourself permission to swing back and forth in your:
- Opinions
- Beliefs
- Moods
- Ideas about how life should be
Just swing and feel the joy of swinging!
And then maybe write down how it feels to be alive in these special times or another time when you had the freedom to swing with abandon.

I love swinging!! My sister and I have a tradition of swinging and singing “Me and Bobby McGee” at the top of our lungs. It’s so much fun. What a wonderful metaphor to adapt to observation of one’s thoughts.
That sounds like so much fun. I love Me and Bobby McGee and swinging. You’re making me want to go and listen to some Janis. Thanks for swinging by today!
There was a swing once in a very quiet and sacred place. I loved swinging on that swing out over the river. I felt so free. I was in my 30′s and hugging trees.
That sounds lovely. I have been making it a point to hug trees again. I was getting a bit too cloistered and both trees and swinging help me get back to myself!
Great post my friend
Thank you Jake!
Karen, you’ve inspired us to do this! Can’t wait to head to the park tomorrow and just swing…xo!
That’s great!
Great post. You make me think of my life when I was younger
Thank you! There is something about swinging that just appeals to so many of us.

Thank you. I’m now thinking of installing a swing myself. I like the idea of having a swing in my living space, not just outside!

I love to swing. This weekend my neighbor gave us the hand-made swingset his grandkids outgrew. My grandkids love it. So do I.
